Shaun Groves, who I have enjoyed for years now, has a blog. I'm not wildly in love with his music, and I realize that at times it has tended towards the popular for sake of record sales (which, God bless him, he admits), but through reading his blog occasionally I have a newfound respect for him and his art. He's at times witty, but more often than not he is a thoughtful person and a thinker. I like thinkers, so I thought I would give him a plug. Check it out sometime: Shlog
Postscript: Thanks to a comment by Mr. Groves himself, which in itself is surreal, I have retraced my steps and researched the previous comment that I made concerning him admitting a compromise in music for sake of record sales. Apparantly I am not as careful a reader as I think I am, and I interpreted a few paragraphs written about a metting with his record label made in one of his posts inaccurately.
I suppose my critique was entirely editorial in nature. By way of credibility I must add that I own and know-by-heart all of his albums, but I felt like White Flag was not of the same caliber as his previous two, and I used his comments about pressure from radio stations, etc to explain that. I suppose art is in many ways subjective in that regard. My bad. I would encourage anyone to give him a listen and judge for yourself, though.
